Our school council is group of pupils who are elected to represent the views of all pupils with the aim of improving their school.
A school council does a number of things:
The school council meets – either with a teacher present or as a group – to discuss and sort out problems. They also bring ideas and suggestions to meetings on things that pupils would like in order to improve the school.
Members of the school council will be responsible for carrying out the ideas that have been agreed, such as social events, writing newspaper articles, or choosing new playground equipment.
Each year, every class will normally elect two representatives to be members of the school council. The council then decides which of them takes on the responsibilities of treasurer, secretary, chair and vice chair.
