My name is Miss Lara Tibbott and I am the teacher in Year 6 Herons class. We are very lucky that we also have Mrs Donna Maclean-Walker working within our year group and helping us in the classroom. We are so excited to be supporting your children through their last year at Meadowbrook Primary as they move towards the next step in their education.
During term one, we have been looking at our theme ‘The Whole World In Our Hands’. We have thought about the world around us, comparing the U.K with different places as well as learning about the physical and human geography of our world. We have also spent some time considering the impact of humans on our planet and what we can do to take better care of the world around us.
In terms two and three, we will be looking at the theme of ‘Exploration’. Our learning will include the science themes of adaption and evolution, geography including map skills and locational understanding as well as lots more of fun and exciting learning. We will also learn about history skills and conduct a historical study looking at the British Empire and the effect this had.
Any home learning will be sent out via Seesaw so that the children can complete this and return it online. I will then virtually mark and look over it giving feedback and next steps where needed. Your children should also have logins for Times Tables Rockstars which is a fantastic website and app to practice and become more fluent with times tables.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or by phoning the school office should you need to. I look forward to seeing you soon!
