Our Governors
The School Improvement Committee (SIC) works with the school’s senior leadership team in developing the vision and aims of the school community.
The SIC aims to:
Provide strategic direction for the work and improvement of the school.
Support, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the school.
Ensure accountability for standards and quality of education in the school.
The School Improvement Committee consists of people from a variety of backgrounds and representing different areas of the school and local community. They are elected for a four-year term, and meet as a full team for at least six formal meetings during the school year.
As well as the commitment to attending these meetings, governors are involved in many aspects of school life such as meetings with pupils and parents, lesson visits, monitoring the school improvement agenda, and meetings with school staff.
Governors have a broad and varied experience and background, with experience in education, business, health service and technology. All Governors’ work is carried out on a voluntary basis and the governing body is assessed by Ofsted in much the same way as the rest of the school.
There are several categories of governor, appointed by different groups that have an interest in the school. These are Community governors, Parents, and Staff. All governors have equal status, however they are appointed.
Our Parent governors are elected by parents. Staff governors are elected by school staff. Community governors are appointed by the Olympus Remuneration and Nominations Committee on behalf of the Olympus Board of Trustees.
As governors, we are committed to providing an excellent environment for all pupils to enjoy during their time at our school.
