Kingfishers - Year 6
Mrs Johnson

Class Information
Welcome to Kingfishers class.
Year 6 is a very exciting year where we study a wide range of themes as well as preparing for the next step in our education.
Our curriculum theme for Term 1 is The Whole World in Our Hands where we will be looking at how different people have shaped our world. In particular we will think about equality and how Bristol has played a part in Black history. Our Class Text is Journey Back to Freedom where we will learn about the struggles of a young man on a slave ship.
In Term 2 and 3 during the theme of exploration we will be following the journey of Ernest Shackelton and Charles Darwin. We will also consider how previous explorers have shaped our knowledge and understanding of the world.
The theme for Term 3 and 4 is of Law and Order and will take us back to the Middle Ages, through to Victorian Britain and the present day. We will investigate how Law and Order have changed over the centuries and the reasons for these changes.
Term 6 will be titled "People, Places and me". We will link many of the ideas we have studied throughout the year and also think about the many reasons that people migrate and consider the question- Should we be allowed to live anywhere?
